Why sound therapy?
The idea of using sound, vibrations, and frequency for healing, often referred to as sound therapy or acoustic therapy, is based on the scientific principle that everything in the universe, including our body, is in a state of vibration. Different parts of our bodies resonate with different frequencies. Sound therapy aims to use these concepts with the following premises:
Resonance: Every object has a natural vibratory rate called its resonance. Each part of the human body also has its own natural frequency. Sound therapy utilises tones that resonate with specific body parts to promote healing.
Entrainment: This is a principle where two objects that are vibrating at different frequencies will tend to lock into phase and vibrate in harmony. In sound therapy, the idea is that if one part of the body is out of balance and not vibrating at its natural frequency, a sound with that frequency can be used to 'tune' that part of the body to its correct frequency.
Binaural Beats: When two different tones, close in frequency, are played in each ear, the brain perceives a third tone based on the mathematical difference between the two. This can stimulate the brain to match the "beat" and in turn affect states of consciousness, potentially promoting relaxation and healing.
Brainwave States: Different frequencies can influence brainwave states (like alpha, beta, delta, and theta waves). For example, delta waves are associated with deep sleep, while alpha waves are associated with relaxation. Sound therapy can aim to shift the listener's brainwave state to one that promotes healing.
Physical Response: The body can have a direct physical response to sound and vibration. For example, a loud, sudden sound can trigger a fight-or-flight response, while a calming, steady, repetitive sound might promote relaxation.
Frequency and Tissue Repair: Certain frequencies are hypothesized to affect the body at a cellular level. For instance, 528 Hz is claimed to be the frequency of DNA repair, although this is a speculative claim with limited scientific evidence.

You can always pause the meditation if needed, and return to it when you feel ready. Over time, you will likely find that these emotional releases lead to greater peace and emotional balance.
